Different government policies of other countries for solar rooftop adoption.
As the world is moving forward, it’s adapting with time to make its presence prominent in the race of life, as per the current scenario of overusing natural resources, which are in a limited amount. Using these sources had its share of disadvantages for the world and humankind. Global warming, pollution, natural calamities, and severe health issues have been the long-term effect of the exploration of resources. To overcome and not worsen the current situation, many initiatives towards green fuel as an energy source have been initiated by the country around the world. Like solar rooftop, windmills and rainwater harvesting, among others, solar is quite famous.
The government and people have kept the recent changes in mind, and their actions have shown support. People are now openly talking about matters and accepting differences in their way of living, which has been an excellent boost for their country governments to take more action regarding solar exposure and its benefits.
So let’s talk about various countries’ aspects of multiple actions and their government policies regarding solar energy and solar system projects.
We have three countries in mind for this discussion: India, United states and Australia.
Various aspects of solar energy and solar system Projects.
People of each country enjoy a certain set of benefits with certain rules and regulations of each country. All the aspects may be different. Still, they hold a crucial and major influence over people to go for this method rather than completely relying on on-grid connections for electricity.
- From installments to registering yourself to earn extra money by selling the excess generated electricity to grid lines. All these things are managed in each country through various government working bodies.
For example, in India, DISCOM (Electricity Distribution Companies) is responsible for all the installation of solar system projects and incentives.
In the US, these matters come under the section of the department of energy, where people freely install their solar units.
Whereas in Australia, the residents need to get licensed and clean energy council technician to set up their solar system. As The Clean Energy Regulator regulates the solar industry in Australia.
- In the US, a household with solar installed on their rooftops enjoys a 30% tax credit, which has shifted to 26% in 2021.
Whereas in Australia, people receive rebates up to $ 1,888 and interest-free loans for PV panels systems.
And finally, in India, the people receive 30% to 40% subsidies per state.
All these benefits are enjoyed by the people who have registered their systems under the government and must be an on-grid solar connection.
- In the US, people only enjoy tax credits for their solar connections. In contrast, in India, people get incentives for the amount of energy their PV panels can generate, which varies from 5% to 15%. And in Australia, people enjoy financial incentives through small-scale technology certificates per kilowatt. These STC are worth $35 – $40 AUD, which brought the cost per watt from $ 1.56 to $ 1.12.
- In the US, other countries do not enjoy a great policy under the PACE act. In all three countries, people receive financial support for the installments of the solar rooftop in the form of cash, help or loans.
But in the US, people get an interest-free loan and a certain amount in cash. But if, for certain reasons, the house owners must sell their house before paying their loans. Then the responsibility to pay the debt is shifted to the new owners through their electricity savings instead of paying the debt in cash.
- Whereas in the US, the support for solar energy is shown by the state government through initiatives like providing a 50% tax credit equal to $12,500 for the installment of panels in Louisiana, whereas 7% state sales tax by the law of New Jersey.
Will in Berkley, the people can add their cost for solar to their property taxes and pay it through their electricity savings.
Whereas in Australia, the lower income household enjoys a 50% subsidy, equal to $2,500, for installing solar panels.
While in India, people receive incentives on the amount of extra energy their solar rooftop can produce.
The countries have reached new heights in producing solar energy through all this push and support. Australia is successfully generating 27,167 MW of power till June 2022; the US has produced 121,475 MW by the end of 2021, with India producing 60.40 TWh by 2020 – 2021.
These statistics represent the amount of effort and dedication the countries with their people are making towards clean energy as they dream of the same goal of achieving a 100% zero-carbon energy source for their country.
Conclusion
In a future where every house will have a solar rooftop, making themselves self-reliable in terms of electricity with other mediums of green energy sources in life.
So adopting a solar rooftop has been proven beneficial by all these countries in terms of their environment, economic growth, technology and even people being aware and reliable.
Adopting is the key to survival; we humans have been doing this since our existence. So let’s come forward hands in hand to take a step towards a secure and safe future based on green energy.
